Halloween!

Last Sunday we celebrated this fun holiday by carving a couple of pumpkins! It was Jake's first time... and we had a great time.

We sat on our front porch and went to town with a knife and a big spoon.

Cleary Jake was having fun!

Almost done...

Pumpkins with candles... and a nice little pose from Bella!

Halloween night in Jakarta... we got no trick or treaters... but a good night all the way around.

More Phuket! (Days 4, 5 & 6)

The next day we just loafed hard around the hotel... we were tired out from the beach so we just swam, napped and ate all day. My kind of day!

Bella and Icha smile while Jake wonders where the buffet is...

Bella took this picture!

The next day it was time for some traditional Thai culture: BOWLING! Bella smiles as she puts on her bowling shoes.

Marks helps the boy roll one down the lane for a strike... well almost!

Jake sees something....

There we go... a little easier for the boy.

Jake shows off his displeasure in not breaking 100! (actually he was just really hungry)

Nothing like a plate of french fries to bring a smile back to Jake's face!

Bella smiles on the way back to the hotel after dinner.

The next day (Friday) we got up early (4:30am) to catch our 8am flight back to Jakarta.

Ah... one last traditional Thai food breakfast!

Phuket - Day 3

On Wednesday we headed up a bit north from hotel to a quiet and relatively secluded beach. We spent about 5 hours enjoying the nice weather, surf and sand.

Jake plays in the sand while Icha smiles... not a bad way to spend half the day!

Bella on the boogie board!

Our Surfer Girl in action!

Like father, like son: Jake LOVED playing in the sand.

Jake smiles in his own little way

Mommy and daughter smile... look how tall the kid is now!

Icha takes a rest after a long day of lounging on the beach

We capped off the day with a visit from the ice cream man!

Back in our hotel the kids crashed out early... Bella was asleep by 5:30pm and slept all the way until 7am the next day!

More Phuket! (Day 2)

The next day we had a lot of fun... sitting by the pool then heading down into town for some shopping and a new hairstyle for Bella.

Bella and Icha fool around in the pool.

Jake looks for another snack.

Bella getting a new 'do' at a high class salon.

Looking good!

After we got back to the hotel we had fun in the 'kids club'

Getting tired...

Time to head back to our room

Phuket! (Day 1)

Last week Mark & Bella had a week off of school... so we went to Phuket, Thailand for 5 nights of fun in the sun.

Bella and Icha smile on the plane while the boy contenplates what to have for lunch. Yes... Bella is wearing bunny ears and nose.

Thailand! Bella 5 years old = been to 7 different countries now!

Before dinner, Bella smiles while watching the sunset from our balcony.

Jake is ready for another haircut!

Jake all smiles at dinner... why? (see below)

All you can eat meat! Freshly grilled... sensational!

Icha opted for fried rice with chicken... served in a pineapple!

UN DAY!

It was United Nations Day here at our school yesterday! Great fun all the way around... and truly a magical, and powerful, day for everyone.

Bella smiles as she shows off her USA outfit.

The Niners may be still looking for their elusive first win of the year, but Mark still wears his jersey with pride!

Time for the annual UN DAY parade!

Check out some video from the parade....

After the parade it was time for the various 'cultural performances.' -- This year chose to join the Indonesia group. As always... Bella did not seem daunted by the bright lights of the stage.
